Lunars are good for me? Well, yes, of course they are.
Talking about time sights, a few years ago somebody linked a rather long article about laying underwater cable ca. 1880. The author described taking time sights with an artificial horizon, mercury, inside an astronomical observing tent. It never was explained why time sights were preferred to getting time over the cable just laid, but I have no doubt there was a purpose.
