Ah yes - the Armada Portrait.
Perhaps there is a little artistic license involved with some of the lines on the globe, but the lines radiating from a point will be beraing lines (or an artistic represenation thereof). I suspect the bold white line is intended to be the path of the sun defining its northern and southern limits (the tropics).
As for the funky curves that cross the land, I have no idea.
