You described the bubble this way: tilt invarient. Explain a bit more.
To center a body, I first pre-calculate/estmate what the Hs will be. I then center the bubble and then rotate the octant about it's vertical axis, swinging it left and right expecting the body to flash by the bubble chamber. When I have the right Zn, I then refine the arc to place the body in the middle of the bubble. Often, swinging the octant pushess the bubble off center so I have to juggle it back to the center.
The sun and full moon fit nicely in the bubble. Bright stars look great too when they are dead centered.
