My account is uncapped and always on. The last time I regularly switched off was 20 years ago when I had 50kbps dial up costing IIRC $6 per hour - log on, download emails and then quickly log off!
If I spent the money I could change to 1Gbps down but whether it would actually run at that speed I do not know. For what I use the internet for my previous 10mbps adsl was more than adequate. 100mbps is nice to have but not essential.
