    I rechecked the Abney index error using a high precision machinist level and got an IE of 30", last time was 28'.  I just yesterday did the water level trick using 100ft of 3/8" clear vinyl tubing filled with colored water, actually dark brown iced tea would be more visible, it takes nearly 1 gallon to fill the tubing. The distance between the ends was about 40 feet. The IE I got was 40', however, this is a pretty crude method. I trust the machinist level method more.
