Your outline is shows how refined techniques can be to save time, improve accuracy and not get killed at the same time while taking sights.
On point 9, I assume this works because the trailing edge across the entire wing is straight. Perhaps too the pilot looks at the shadow of the wing on fuselage and can tell when the trailing edge is pointed directly at the sun.
9. Compass error can be seen by pointing the lower wing trailing edge at the sun's horizon position.
