Our esteemed friend Hanno Ix showed me how to do lunar clearance with Hv-Doniol (with Lars modification?) a few months ago before he unfortunately left us.
The same Karl page 93 example.
RBA:
LDsd = 52 deg 23';
Hsd = 38 deg 40';
hsd = 30 deg 36'
Lars with lunar variables value
Set: PD = LDsd; 52deg 23'
N = hav ( Hsd - hsd ) 0.0049
P = hav( Hsd + hsd ) 0.3230
Q = P + N 0.3279
then RBA = arc hav [ (hav ( PD ) - N / (1 - Q) ] = 64deg 12.9'
_______________________________________________________________
LDo:
RBA = 64deg 12.9'
Ho = 38deg 38.7
ho = 31deg 21.4'
hav - Doniol with lunar variables value
Set: n = hav ( Ho - ho ) 0.0040
p = hav ( Ho +ho ) 0.3290
q = p + q 0.3330
then LDo = arc hav [ n + ( 1 - q ) * hav (RBA) = 52deg 2.55'
I have never tried Ageton, but may do some comparisons in the next few months,if I find time.(I find semi reitirement very busy!). I shall compare calculator, Fuller slide rule, BN, Hv Doniol and probably now Ageton.
All good fun.
Really miss Hanno in these fascinating discussions.
Best wishes all,
Francis
