Wow. I read your first post and thought, 'yes, good point'. But this makes excellent sense. The rotation detected is relative to the cosmological rest frame ..."the distant stars". So if (big if) the camera can stabilize relative to all rotational accelerations, then it will automatically track the stars. Nice!
