At some point soon, the cameras will have to start offering sidereal tracking as an option. If stabilization is purely inertial, a 3-second exposure will give 45-arcsecond trails at the focal plane. But if the camera knows its position and orientation (via GNSS and compass for example), and you enable the sidereal tracking mode, then the stabilization loop could track that out purely open-loop, resulting in round stars again.
I suspect this will be low priority for the camera firmware people.
