I think the Changzhou Merlin Alpha 40 is a version of the Astra III B for the Asian market. Post a picture of the sextant and the paperwork which may have dates and arc error written in Chinese. Someone might be able to translate it.

Date: 2015 Sep 16, 19:08 -0700I have two Alpha 40s in my lineup, one I bought new around 1995, the second just recently. A bit of a bargain.
The latest one has never been used and it is slightly different from my 1995 model. I have not found any way of dating the sextant. If this can be determined from the serial number or some other method I would appreciate the info.
