    Antoine and others.

You have, as I did, found that LHA is 0° for the assumed position. Consequently, the bearing to the sun Zn = 180° and LAT = 12 00 00. I had - to my amateur astro surprise – unintentionally taken a noon sight. It had of course been easy to realise that: Just add the longitude (in time format) to observation time and subtract the equation of time. Earlier I had tried noon sights but found it “awkward” to time the peak and my time taking wife thought it boring.

As a sidetrack I can add that the island from where I took this observation is near the place of the “Whiskey on the rocks” incident. A soviet sub ran aground and could not get free. If interested, search for Wikipedia article Soviet submarine S-363.
