Sorry, I have given you a wrong observed altitude (Ho). The right one is 56° 29′. The calculated altitude (Hc) from the assumed position is, using NASR- or HO249-tables, 56° 33′ and the intercept Ho-Hs = -4M “away”.
From the chart position and with cosine and tangent equations and a nonrounded-off declination the same difference is just +0,1M “towards”.
I must have had steady hands and sharp eyes that day. And yesterday, nine years later, I print 59 instead of 56!
