I heard Amazon is trying to leapfrog cellular networks by using satellite technology instead.

The Times newspaper carries the story today that the US FCC has given Amazon permission to launch 3000 LEO satellites.  There are only about 100 comments so far the gist of which is how dare Amazon, and how dare the FCC? Does the US FCC own the Universe? etc etc.

My feeling is the FCC can only give permission to transmit, but there's not much point launching if you can't transmit, so indirectly they control both.  What's the feeling in the USA and elsewhere about 3000 Amazon satellites? DaveP
