Degrees west longitude.
Did the GPS tell you you were at some number degrees West longitude or did it tell you were some number of degrees from the Greenwich meridian?
GPS 0 degrees longitude is offset some number of meters from the Greenwich meridian

Today I found myself in Washington and took these photos. According to my iPhone’s GPS, the American Meridian is situated at 77 degrees 3’ 5” west of the Greenwich Meridian. I wonder how accurate that is.
