To obtain azimuth without Hc calculations there are 'good old' methods; such as Lecky's A,B,C tables originally published in 1892 and republished every year by Reed's and for the sun H.O. 260 (also called H.O. 71 at times, I have copies with both titles and haven't noticed a difference) which is great because you do NOT NEED declination or LHA as long as you know date and local time.
