I almost fell into the "found it on Amazon but it's too thick" trap, too. I don't know what viscosity is correct for your application but 0.65cst is correct for Kollsman bubble chambers and I suspect it would work for compass fluid, too. I eventually found it here: http://www.midwestlubricants.com/crown-pro-silicone-fluid-0-65cst/
This place has a variety of viscosities for silicone fluid if you wish to have one with slightly higher viscosity.
