Many thanks. I might have guessed you would have seen this model. I found the light switch cunningly hidden (if your French is rusty) in the handle, and believe it or not, the compass still lights up despite the verdigris and extant battery. I’ll report again when I’ve got everything overhauled. This was to be my week for tidying up my workshop. DaveP
