Brad,
5 minutes is the at sea reduction time for hav Doniol not at the desk time. At the desk the hav Doniol can be done in 2.5 minutes longhand without rushing but a few minutes one way or the other is not important unless your going 500 kts. Aviators need the speed so this is the place where a MHR-1 shines. Sailors are better off with tables which are much harder to break ;-)

Upon rereading your message, I see that you asset 5 minute solution times. Didn't pick that up the first time thru.
5 minutes for Hav-Doniol is greater than 2 minutes for the Bygrave
