Ouch!  That must have really been painful.  Get well soon.

When on contract in another part of the country, far from home, I too struggled for something to do.  Until I decided to replicate each method in ye olde Bowditch by implementing it in Excel.  When it came to the table lookups, I tried to recreate each table by getting the fundamental underlying equation.  This took up a prodigious amount of time, intellectually stimulating too.

PS I never did manage to implement the appendix on occultations.  Probably the most obscure and obtuse bit of instructions I have ever read.  I think it was in there to impress seamen with complication rather than to offer useful advice and methodology.

I have become imobile in bed for the comming 6 weeks, must keep left leg still from toes to hip -surgery after accident at work- (just under half ton of scrap fell on me...) and then several weeks/months of rehab.

    Any suggestions on navigation literature?
    any movies?
    online cources?

Already I have done the colreg flashcards dozen times or so, same with single letter signals, signal flags, morse code, VHF and HF procedures and frequencies.
