That is odd indeed. It looks like your adjusting tool is exactly what is required for my sextant. I have no idea where I would find one? Perhaps we could arrange a swap since your version does not require the tabs which my adjusting tool does not have.

How odd. The mirror adjusting tool that came with my Astra has two little tabs on one end and I always wondered what they were for. It looks like they might be a good match for the two slots in the fitting holding your shades. The weird part is that my Astra has completely different hardware and I couldn't find any use for the tabs. See pics below.
