In this particular instance, since there were only a couple of students registered for the class, I had them stand during the presentation, hanging onto the low wall around the planetarium projector at the center of the room. This, of course, minimizes, but can never eliminate, the dome parallax that distorts the appearance of the constellations in the planetarium.
In cases like this, where the smaller audience is all near one spot, I wonder if the projection system can be told to predistort its image so that the audience sees an accurate view. The projection software should have a button that says "put geometric sweet spot here".
