After seeing the photograph of the Astrograph invented Pritchard and Lamplough at RAE Farnborough on the 619Sqn Lancaster photograph, I thought it might be interesting to read Dickie Richardson’s description of the device and suggested operating instructions added to the 1941 Edition of AP1234 while the equipment was still in the development stage. Photographs appear below. I wonder why you needed to switch it off between activities. Was it prone to overheating, did it steal too much power, or did Richardson just have a tidy mind? Does anyone have a later copy of AP1234 with the final instruction in? DaveP
