A few days ago I was determining index correction (i.c.) of my sextant (ASTRA IIIB) with the sun disc. I attached the flowing chart as a compilation of several Russian books on celestial navigation which I followed.
I've done it several times and the results were the following:
Turning drum in one direction gave me i.c. = +0.7' and in opposite direction i.c. = -0.3'. The difference is 1' is quite big. I would expect a smaller difference.
Should I worry about these results or just keep it in mind while taking sun sights?
kind regards,
Igor
