You’re enjoying well deserved retirement in Bermuda when, Skinflint Airways, having deduced your skill as a navigator from your NavList posts, offers you and your partner a free weekend on St Helena if you’ll agree to navigate their proving flight from Bermuda 32 22’N 064 41’W to St Helena 15 58’S 005 39’W. Despite being assured that all nav equipment will be provided, you find out at the last moment that their aircraft fit is very much 1970s, and their chart stock comprises one Mercator chart of the North Atlantic. You’ve already promised your partner a free holiday, so how will you manage for charts? Also describe three ways you could work out at which longitude to cross the equator. DaveP
