I highly recommend Wolfgang Hasper’s tubes for anyone considering constructing a Bygrave or MHR1 reproduction. They were custom fabricated to his specifications from resin infused paper. They are rock solid and need to be drilled and sawn. I have used them myself in creating my own reproduction shown here. Full construction details are summarized in this post https://NavList.net/m2.aspx/Working-Model-MHR1-Sliderule-Stuart-jul-2016-g36071.
Bill Morris, Wolfgang Hasper and myself all used Postscript scales that I developed available at https://NavList.net/m2.aspx/Postscript-code-for-making-Bygrave-Scales-Stuart-jan-2015-g29918 along with full instructions. Dimensions of the configurable.
In my case the various fittings required were designed in OpenSCAD and 3D printed at Shapeways.com. Images of some of these are attached,
