If you add floats to a landplane, and don't also add water rudders or extra fin area, it will become less stable in each axis due to coupling. So you must keep your hands on, and eyes out.
More appropriate to this forum, is how long you have to have eyes in and hands off working a Bygrave, and how dangerously low you have to be to do a marine sextant sight.
You then begin to see the elephants. And we haven't got on to " landfall procedure" yet...
