From my description of the auction:
This is the 7th edition of Nathaniel Bowditch's "New American Practical Navigator" published in 1832 just five years before Bowditch died and among the best of the era.
This volume is in good condition, though there are some water stains, as to be expected from a book actively used at sea in practical navigation.
Bowditch's "Navigator" includes details of historical methods of navigation including longitude by chronometer, longitude by lunars, latitude by Noon Sun, and latitude by double altitudes. The numerous mathematical tables and tables of latitudes and longitudes of places are in very good condition. There are also detailed engravings to illustrate the work.
