What a very nice geometrical approach!
I think I can do something similar for the MPS (Methode du "Plan des Sommets" or Plane of Vertices), with 2 stars.
In this new case, the external triangle -outside the shaded part- exactly determines the Plane of Vertices.
No doubt that such a folded and pasted device will be useful to my students!
