How Chichester survived, I've no idea.
I wonder if you might want to try a Brown-Nassau graphical slide rule for single handed flight? Easier than Bygrave, 2 minutes max, no intermediate numbers to write down. See my earlier posts on making a simple prototype in a couple of hours. ( much easier to make than the Bygrave, although not quite as accurate.)
