Brad,
I appreciate your comments. When you get you finder, you will be surprised at how intricate and convenient it is to use once you figure out what all the scales are. My guess is it was not more widely used because of it's manufacturing costs though the E6B flight computer (plastic or aluminum) isn't easy to make either and many tens of thousands were made during and after the war.
I'm interested in your first impressions when you get yours. Post a note.
