Maybe there's an insider joke that followers of Futurama understand and is lost on me but actually the equation seems to do a fair job at reproducing the Equation of Time. The second term in B is clearly just decorative sciency stuff that should be ignored. If N is the day of the year then E is an approximation to the Equation of Time. The attached plot shows the results of the formula along with results obtained from MICA for 2020,
