Robin,
In your responce to Geoffrey's post you said that a person would not see the same lunar distance at Greenwitch as Cook. Did you mean that the lunar distance "seen" would be different because it still would have paralax and refrection and corner cosine and etc. but the cleared, geocentric distance would be the same?
