Was the enigma used in the kreigsmarine? I thought that a different system was used.

They were all called Enigma machines (not to be confused with Lorenz), but the machines, operating systems, and add-ons gradually got more sophistocated as time progressed. In general, Kreigsmarine machines and operating methods were considered more sophistocated than most others, but they were still called Enigma Machines. It's all in Wikipedia, so we can all talk the talk, even if we soon lose our way trying to understand them. DaveP
