I seem to remember in the great string of British war films of the 50s and 60s there was often a ‘Technical Advisor’ named in the credits who was sometimes the person who’d taken part in the real incident. To what extent the director actually listened to them, or to what extent they ended up pulling their hair out with frustration, I know not. DaveP
