Thanks to David Burch of Starpath, Celestial Tools has a new home, www.starpath.com/downloads/CelestialTools.exe. Note that the version number is not included in the URL, but will always be the latest version, currently V5.7.0. Also note that this is the executable file, not a zipped version. This has several advantages.
First, in the past Celestial Tools has been made available to NavList members as an attachment to an email, but several popular email programs, like gmail, do not allow executable attachments, zipped or otherwise. We got around this by changing exe to something like exx before zipping, which then had to be changed back to exe after downloading and unzipping. This worked, but was somewhat of an inconvenience.
Second, Norton Antivirus products often flagged Celestial Tools as a dangerous program. This was a false positive, due to the fact that Norton's "heuristic algorithm" simply would flag any program it did not recognize. I tried on several occasions to get Celestial Tools put on Norton's white list, but Norton/Symantec did not seem interested in a program with such a small user base. Working with Celestial Tools users that have Norton products on their computers, we found that there are ways to get a program put on your personal white list, but some are not that straightforward. We found that Norton was most forgiving when downloading executables, rather than zipped executables. After downloading Celestial Tools from Starpath, getting Norton to "allow" Celestial Tools was fairly easy.
If you have any trouble downloading or using Celestial Tools, just let me know. Keep in mind, though, that the program is pretty user-friendly and has an extensive Help file.
