Your globe looks brilliant.  I seem to remember attending a talk, pre-cadcam, from a graphics expert who mentioned pre-stretching his paper by brushing with water before using water colours.  Re:  the wrinkles along the edges due to flat v spherical surface, diy wallpapering experience suggests you can squash most of the edge wrinkles out using a decorators roller.  It's worth a try.  DaveP
