    Frank,

    To me the distances in the photo are distorted as for example:

    1) in the stellarium image, the distance from C(assiopea)  gama to C eta is greater than C eta to C alpha while 

    2) in the photo those distances are opposite.

    I know next to nothing about the I phone optical system but it is an amazingly short focal length and likely has a lot of distortion as a consequence.
