Navy LT Philip Dalton developed early versions of the E6B. I believe one of his wind computers had a similar scale. I know American Airlines used a similar wind scale in the early 1940s and issued them to their pilots. I have a couple of those. They are not easy to understand but work. American Airlines CB Bassett worked with Jeppesen to develop the CB-1. I think that American and some other airlines purchased them for their pilots. I have a Jeppesen CB-1 instruction manual that explains the operation, but cannot find a CB-1 computer for sale. The simpler scale on the CR solves the triangle trigonometrically. Because it was simpler and easier to use it probably stopped the sale of the CB-1. That is all I know just wish I could find a CB-1 in good working condition.
