But going through the Panama Canal would not count as solo unassisted non-stop circumnavigation! All the Imocas in the Vandee Globe who got to Cape Horn look like they will finish now. Quite a few failed earlier. It seems the Horn is no longer the insurmountable challenge it used to be, perhaps with modern weather routing. Bill King, another Irish single handed circumnavigator, did get demasted around the Horn one of his attempts.
