See a post on this forum by Stephen N. G. Davies about A. C. Johnson (2017 Jan 12, 10:34 +0800). It gives some interesting informations about Johnson's biography and the year of his birth (1828) and death (1909).
About the double chronometer method, see my own study on different Johnson's tables and books (page 19 in the attached file) ... written in french language but figures and formulae are international language !
