"Coast Navigation School" was Svend Simonsen's creation, right? This message got me wondering about the history of "Simex", and I found a few details that I had not encountered before. Publicity is everything! It seems the school and his Simex sextants benefited tremendously from a little article in Time magazine in early 1968. I have patched together the article and a follow-up (freely available from time.com). See below. One key detail: note that Simonsen was 59 in 1968, so we may assume his active business had shut down within 25 years at most after that (sometime before 1993).
