Hello!
This is the post on Russian yatchsmen's forum where I got to know the graphical LAN/Lat+Lon solution. Post's author refers to this book - by James N.Wilson.
So, apparently - Mr Wilson knew this simplification - but a more scientific solution was published in the article we all cited before.
