The times of sunrise and sunset are used for planning purposes, to wit: civil twilight, when observations are turned into LoPs.

Ah yes, I’d forgotten the daily page give the twilights as well as sunrise and sunset, and you can use Table 1 page xxxii with all three, so yes you could use it to predict availability times for observing the stars using a marine sextant and a natural horizon. DaveP
