I think of running fixes as doing the best I can with imperfect information.
It is before dawn, and after sunset, when I can get a fix using two or more stars/planets that I plant my feet on solid ground, navigationally speaking. What I do during the daytime (unless I am fortunate enough to be able to see the moon in the sky at the same time as the sun) is necessarily limited.
