Damian, Dennis, thanks for the comments.
No, I do not expect a lighting striking directly on the box, it is supposed to be stowed somewhere off the mast base (on a yacht). And I only want the equipment to remain in good operational condition when stowed - all the batteries will be taken out (except the watch).
I know for the fact that my Sony ICF-SW100 is not hurt - even when on - by a relatively close (1,5km ~ 2km) lightning strike.
If a lightning strikes in the mast? What breaks first: a hull or a receiver in a tin-box?
A yacht I'm going to visit is mostly plastic and its' mast is an aluminum "tube". Whether or not it is (properly) grounded - I do not know.
Regards,
Tony
