Dear Tibor,

Thanks for looking into the matter and for your thorough reply.

I was suspecting the CP300 is making use of some sort of transformation to the equidistant azimuthal projection. If I find some time to get a bit more acquainted with Python programming and the mathematics involved in said transformations, I'll give it a go experimenting with such projection grids and I'll let you know.
