The Air Position Indicator of around 1941 used the same technique, except it did so constantly and automatically rather than manually every 30 minutes.  Air mileage from an air milage unit was resolved about heading to give northings and eastings which were fed onto integrating counters to give air position.  The northings were fed to the counters directly to give air latitude.  The eastings were fed through a secant gear first to give air longitude.
