    It dates to late 1944.  Here are some serial numbers from around that time:

    43132 micrometer 1944 7/31/44
    44035 micrometer 1944 11/2/44
    44088 micrometer 1944
    44164 micrometer 1944
    46676 micrometer 1945 2/17/45

    I don’t know what the A means.  Is that stamped on the arc or on the certificate.  They mostly were making “Mates” then.
