Skimmed this, a pleasant read. I wonder if anyone can explain what Baily meant when he referred to "four new planets". He mentions this several times, first on p4, then later on p19 and again on p20 where he also uses the phrase "the seven principal planets" - presumably Mercury to Uranus.
Neptune wasn't discovered until 1846 if I read my Wikipedia right. Uranus could be one of the four new planets. What were the others? Was he talking about asteriods?
