It is still the intercept method when using a calculator. You are using the DR position as the assumed position rather than a chosen position using a whole degree of latitude and a chosen longitude to get a whole degree of local hour angle when using pub 249 or 229. The calculator results are still plotted the same way except that the intercepts are much shorter. A short intercept from a DR position will give a high confidence vs a chosen position which could have as much as a 30 moa intercept yet still plot accurate.
